EvaSUE Call to Action: Honoring Caleb's Legacy

Now is the time for action! Following the passing of our dear brother Caleb, the entire EvaSUE family has been deeply shocked by this tragic news. We have been grieving alongside Caleb’s family, the students he served, and the staff who labored closely by his side—including Ashenafi, who was with him at the moment his precious life was taken. The painful way Caleb passed away is incredibly difficult to comprehend, making this an exceptionally trying time for our fellowship.

However, we find profound comfort in God. Caleb was returning home after serving students at Debre Tabor University, preaching on the theme "Hope of the Kingdom of God" from the book of 1 Peter. This truth continues to comfort our fellowship. Furthermore, our faith is firmly grounded in the resurrection, which is a pillar of truth for us. We do not view this as the end of Caleb's story, but rather the beginning of his glory—a glory we will all join in the future.

Beyond our grief, we believe there are urgent and critical steps we must take. First and foremost, Caleb’s family desperately needs our support. His father passed away just three months ago, and the family is currently living on a very low income from his father's retirement pension. Because Caleb’s sister and brother are still students, Caleb was the family's primary source of income.

The EvaSUE leadership has spoken with Caleb’s mother and is actively looking for ways to support the family sustainably. As part of this effort, a joint bank account has been opened in the names of Caleb’s mother, Birtukan, and EvaSUE’s Northwest Regional Coordinator, Mihiretab. We have already witnessed incredibly generous giving within the first day, and we ask you to continue spreading the word as widely as possible to encourage further support. (The account number is indicated below).

Moreover, EvaSUE-USA is calling on all graduates to contribute to this cause. Please use our existing website (linked below) to give, and write "Caleb" in the comment section. You can also easily give via Zelle by adding the note "Caleb".

We encourage everyone to submit their contributions by November 10. This deadline will help us determine the scope of the sustainable project we can undertake for the family. The leadership of EvaSUE highly encourages you all to honor Caleb’s sacrificial service to the Kingdom of God and to show your tangible love to his family during this hour of need.
